Family Retirement House

The single-storey family house is located on a large plot with no neighbors nearby, in a natural Mediterranean setting. The concept of the house is based on connecting the interior and exterior through carefully designed outdoor spaces of different character and degree of sunlight. A recognizable architectural element is the southern facade – a clean, white form without openings in the foreground. The positioning of the three functional volumes creates a series of environments united by a single roof, which connects the house into a harmonious whole. A system of terraces of different typologies is obtained: a shallow terrace in front of the living room, a covered entrance area along the dry stone walls, and a shaded terrace under a deciduous, green pergola in front of the guest apartment. The strategic design of the outdoor spaces allows year-round use of the yard, in deep shade in summer, and on sunny terraces in the lee in winter.
